Upload Your First Leases
Upload Leases turns your lease documents into draft leases in Leasecake: the AI reads each document into a draft, and you review the draft and publish it when it is correct. Nothing goes live until a person reviews and publishes.
You only need the lease documents themselves, as files you can upload.
Upload your documents
Open Upload Leases.
Upload the lease documents you want to bring in.
Each uploaded file is scanned for malware before anything reads it. The AI then reads each document into a draft lease for your team to review.
Review the draft
The draft is your review workspace: every value the AI extracted is waiting for your judgment, and nothing in it affects a live lease.
Open the draft lease the AI produced.
Check each extracted value against the source document: every extracted value links back to the page of the document it came from, so you can confirm it in the original. When a value is one row in a list, such as a rent schedule row or an option, each field in the row also quotes the sentence it came from.
Review the AI's follow-ups
After the AI reads your document, the draft comes with a follow-up list of everything the extraction could not fully resolve. Each entry is one item, not one item per missing field: three charges with no amount, for example, are three entries. Every entry shows a status so you know how to treat it:
Needs Attention: the draft needs your judgment on this entry.
Assumed: the document was silent on this detail, so Leasecake filled in the usual value, or answered a section as none when the extraction could not fully read it.
For Reference: a detail worth seeing, not a decision to make.
Dismissed: an entry you marked Not Applicable.
Each entry shows What to Do guidance and, when Leasecake knows which lease section it belongs to, takes you straight to that field in the draft. A follow-up can also show the page of the source PDF it came from, with the clause the AI based the extraction on highlighted.
If an entry does not apply to your lease, mark it Not Applicable. The entry moves to Dismissed and stays with the lease, and you can Restore it at any time if you change your mind.
When the document leaves a detail out, Leasecake often fills it in from the evidence the document does provide: governing law and certain commencement and rent dates are derived or defaulted this way. When the document says nothing about a value at all, the extraction writes the usual value and records it as an Assumed follow-up, so an assumption never reads like something the lease states. Payment frequency, the rent commencement date, and some rent and option terms are among the values treated this way. When the extraction fully checks a section and finds no mention of it, such as renewals, terminations, insurance, or a security deposit, Leasecake answers the section No on its own: no follow-up is listed and nothing asks you to confirm it. If the lease explicitly denies the item, the answer is still No and links to the sentence where the lease says so. A section the extraction does not fully read, such as holdover or clauses, stays an Assumed follow-up instead.
An assumption is a value to check against your lease, not a fact the document states. Confirm one with That's Right: the item closes as Confirmed and the lease keeps the value. If the assumption is wrong, choose That's Wrong, Fix It, which takes you to the lease section so you can correct the value; the item resolves once the lease differs from the assumption.
Each assumption is its own follow-up, counted separately from anything that still needs your attention, so confirming one never hides another issue on the same entry. Some assumed values also carry a Source link that opens Where This Came From, which explains what was assumed and reminds you to check it against your lease. Anyone who can edit the draft lease can confirm or correct assumptions.
Publish the draft
Review the completed draft one last time.
Publish the lease when it is correct.
If an automation in your workspace requires approval for publishes, your publish is held as a Pending Action until it is approved.
