View a Lease's Information
Every lease in Leasecake is one record with eight pages: Overview, Contract, Accounting, Payments, Transactions, Contacts, Custom Fields, and Change History. This is the map of what each page covers, so you know where to look once your lease is published.
This article follows Upload your first leases: your lease is now a draft or a published lease, and you want to know what lives where. To build a lease by hand instead, see Create a lease, which also maps the sections inside the record (Details, Parties, Term, Rent, Options, Incentives, Assets, Clauses, Risk Controls, and Custom Fields).
The eight pages of a lease
Page | What it covers |
|---|---|
Overview | The lease at a glance. |
Contract | The lease agreement itself. |
Accounting | The lease's books, measurement, and schedules. See below. |
Payments | The lease's scheduled payments, tracked by status. See below. |
Transactions | The lease's transactions. See Record lease transactions for the full walkthrough. |
Contacts | The people and organizations connected to the lease: landlords, guarantors, brokers, and other contacts. They live in a shared registry that catches duplicates, so the same landlord across many leases is one organization, not many. |
Custom Fields | The custom fields your organization's setup administrators added to leases. |
Change History | The changes made to the lease. |
Accounting page
The Accounting page is where you review a lease's accounting. A lease gets a book for each accounting standard it is reported under (ASC 842, IFRS 16, or FRS 102, and one lease can carry more than one). Measuring a book produces the lease liability, the right-of-use (ROU) asset, and the liability, ROU asset, and amortization schedules. See How lease accounting works for how a book is established, measured, and revised.
Payments page
The Payments page shows the lease's scheduled payments, each tracked by one of five statuses: Scheduled, Issued, Past due, Recorded, or Projected.
Leasecake does not process or send payments. Your team records in Leasecake what happens outside it, and the status reflects that.
Upcoming payments also appear on the dashboard next to upcoming critical dates; see Track critical dates and payments.
Other ways to see a lease's information
Lease abstract: a one-document summary of a lease, available as a PDF or spreadsheet.
Search: covers everything readable on a lease, so you can find a value without opening the lease page by page.
Lease list: lists your leases, with bulk actions to publish drafts, discard drafts, or delete leases. On the map view, Filter to This Area filters your leases to the area you are looking at, Clear Area removes that filter while keeping your current view and location search, and Reset clears the location search and the area, then fits the map to the available markers.
Next in this flow: after your lease is published, an accountant measures it under each accounting standard it is reported under. See Publishing your first measurement.
